By Hollyk Tuesday, May 04, 2010

How many of you does this article ring true for?  It does for me; I was born in January in the Western Hemisphere.

Just Curious!

North America is in the northern hemisphere; so being born in the winter is one more thing they say that adds to our susceptibility for developing MS per the article written...

I was born in Montana in late December. Montana has a relatively high rate of MS. My dad's family came from the North Sea coast of Germany (another area with a higher rate of MS than average).

Born in Indiana, after 6 mos family moved to Arizona, Fathers side no MS history. Fift generation from Germany. Mother adopted, no history availiable. Mother DX 1960, MS. Died 1975,MS. Four siblings, two older sisters, one younger. My younger sis and I have MS. She still lives in Arizona, along with one older sis.We  all ended up in Calif. One still there, I'm in Tn. Plenty of sun where we have been and where we are. The birth mos are oldest to youngest. Feb, Oct, Mar, & Oct. So think what you want. How come very few if any MS in Alaska Natives? Who in their right mind would choose to live on the equator? I'm just guessing here, but did the French Canadians come from France. Did most of the imagrants in the northeast come from Europe? IT IS WHAT IT IS!  GOD BLESS YOU & YOURS....MIKE......

Hey KJ,

Are you back from overseas yet?  How are you doing?

5/ 4/10 9:01pm

Hey Mike,

My mother has MS too; funny enough, they are giving me a harder time with the diagnosis because of this...i'm looking for a new neuro.  I have a lot of siblings as well; I pray that this doesn't happen to them as well.

Hi Holly,

I'm still overseas, but I'm heading home in just a few weeks. As soon as I get home we'll be moving to Virginia and back together as a family again.

Thanks,

KJ

I was born in September in sunny & hot Oklahoma.  Don't think my Mom avoided the sunlight too much during her pregnancy, but I'd have to ask.

i was born in arizona in aug--no ms history in my family that i could find out about. am interested if you come to any conclusions. djax59

No conclusions yet; just going off of an article posted here to see if there was any coincidence with the members here.  The article stated that there is a higher occurrence; not that it is the only occurrence.  Just off of the few people who've responded; I would say that the article was ringing truer than not.  Thank you for responding.

Hi HollyK, as you can tell from my profile picture I am Africian-American, I think that when my brother did the family tree thingie, we originated from Germany.  As far back as we can go no MS, I am the first.  Have two daugthers, no MS.  But then mine did not show up until I was 44.  I was told that I had it all my life, it was just dormant, but was there all the time.

Hello; Born in Az. huh.. I lived there from Sept. 1948 to July 1969. About two years in Phoenix, the rest in Tucson. The world keeps getting smaller. Who knows we could've been stuck by the same cactus. Let me know about your life in Arizona?  GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS..........Mike........
