Relying on a Caregiver for Stability from MS

By Amy Gurowitz, Health Guide Monday, January 24, 2011
This past week caught me off guard. My husband left town suddenly for a family emergency and before I had a chance to think about it, my daughter and I were on our own. (Cue the dramatic score!)   My husband, let's call him Keith for the purpose of this discussion :), keeps our house running...

Congrats Amy! It's always amazing to learn what we can do if we HAVE to. this is why I often challenge myself when others advise me that I "should" or "shouldn't" do something. I know they're trying to help, but I also know that taking the easy way, for me, is akin to giving up. The example that comes to mind is: I always buy a house with two levels. Yes, a one-level house would be easier, but in my experience, everything I give up voluntarily, I give up permanently. MS takes enough away from me without my allowing it carte blanche.....

Thanks Michelle! I to was given that house purchasing advice. Something about a ranch turns me off at every level. (so to say!)  I think it can be a wise thing to take suggestions with a grain of salt... though hearing what others have to say can be helpful too. (My mom made me put that last part in!)) I say go with your gut!

Thanks for your response~

Best, Amy

I really REALLY agree.....give a little ground as you can.  MS takes enough....don't give-up or give in voluntarily.

Good for you! We  all need to be faced with a small challenge once in awhile, just to keep us on  our toes and aware of what we CAN do!
