At work accommodations

By cwoolly Thursday, March 25, 2010

I am so lucky.  I was diagnosed 1 year ago, and as soon as my boss learned of my diagnosis, he volunteered I take an extra 1 or 2 breaks during my shift.  He was so good to me.  When I felt like I was getting a little worse a few weeks ago and needed a mild cut in my hours, he again was very good about accommodating me.  I am so lucky.  I am a medical transcriptionist, and I work from home.  I was legally blind before I even had MS, so I work for the Houston Lighthouse.  They hire the visually handicapped.  He is so good in accommodating and being fair to all of his workers that I have been working for him over 2 years now and still love my job.  I guess I will work there until I lose the use of my hands if ever, I hope never with the use of Rebif.

It makes me want to work and want to produce quality and quantity when I have a good boss like him, especially.  That is what it is all about.

That is so awesome for you! Im sure there are many people trying to work for boss' who dont understand or are not compasionate to there needs. My boss is great as well. He let me cut my hours, doesnt get upset if I have to take a day off or leave early for a dr. appointment. I feel very fortunate, if it wasnt for an understanding boss I dont think I would beable to still continue to work. Thank God for great boss'! Best of luck to youLaughing

Hi Cwolly, you are so blessed to have a boss that understands.  Many people are not as fourtnate.  I too had a great boss.  My strong periods are in the mornings, so she would let me work the early morning and leave early afternoon.  I am glad that your boss is sensitive to you needs.  I wish you the best.
