    So similar to what happened with my mom, who also recently turned 80. My one brother and I (I far away and trapped here by MS; brother 5 minutes away) will care for her and a loving cousin near her. But my other brother never steps up to the plate. You are so right, we all need to be PREPARED to care for our parents. My mother raised us all by herself, worked when it was odd for a divorced woman to even exist. We owe her all the good things we are. (We also have a 101 yr old great aunt to care for. How we deal with this is part of our legacy.)
