The doorbell rings. Once... twice... I'm finishing up some work in my office and don't move. I hear Mandy pulling open the door. "Oh! Babies--- how C-U-T-E!!!" Jake, you made a very good point about health care and in a very touching way. I agree with you that there are many people who do not understand how difficult it is to even get private insurance if you have a chronic illness, of course there are some you can get but be careful of the famous pre-existing clause. Everyone needs to read the list of items not covered before agreeing to sign up for insurance.
Those that finally do find a policy that will accept them and cover all their health needs are then hit with the cost. Private health insurance for healthy people is extremely expensive, out of reach for those who lost their insurance when they lost their job, or those living on a fixed income like Social Security. There is so much to be done in this area.
And yes, tomorrow is another day. I too hope there is a Wind of Change about to blow through our country, however it is going to take not only change in the executive branch of our government but a change in Congress so the two parties can agree on legislation that will begin to address the many issues we are facing in health care; from insurance costs and the number of uninsured, to costs of prescriptions, access for all to quality health care, and increased funding for medical research of all kinds, including stem cell research. It will take a while to make major changes, but how nice it will be to see even the desire to improve the policies affecting health care and all that is associated with accessing and paying for it.
Thanks for making such an eloquent case for change. Denise

Thank you, Denise. It's 11:33 pm here and, from my vantage point at least, it appears that the wind of change has, indeed, blown through the country. I feel, dare I say, a bit hopeful.
