Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the body's central nervous system. Multiple sclerosis destroys the layer of insulation around nerve cells, leaving hard scar tissue known as plaque. MS also damages axons in the nervous system. Relapsing-Remitting and chronic progressive are the two main types of Multiple Sclerosis. MS is a degenerative disease that may lead to permanent disability.
