Q: I was told that I have sms after an episode of optic neuritis. It is being 2 years ago. I was psyc

I was psychologically disturbed as the news found me not ready at all.  Since then the probelms I face are headaches every now and then which I relate to stress or to neck problems and depprecion (I am afraid that I am chronic depressed).

I still do not want to believe the doctors that the diagnose is correct.

What do you think can this be a benign form or it is still early to judge?

Thank you for your help!!!

Hello Helena

So did you have an MRI?  How did your doctor diagnose you?

My experience was that I had a bout of optic neuritis over ten years ago and then after a decade of no MS symptoms...I suddenly began having symptoms.  I had no idea that there could be such a long delay between that first episode of optic neuritis and being diagnosed with MS.  I have read that sometimes this period of time can be up to fifteen years.  But there are some people who have optic neuritis and never go on to having MS.  This is one mysterious disease.

I am sorry you are going through this and also having to deal with depression on top of things.  I want to give you the link to Health Central's Depression Connection where I am a contributor as well.

I am glad you found us and if you have any more questions or concerns please let us know.  Nice to meet you Helena!
