Hi David,
I'm sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with MS. But please know that many people live with MS and never lose their ability to walk. You may want to talk to your neurologist about working with a physical therapist to help show you want you can do to stay as strong as possible and/or to prescribe devices which can lessen the effect of your foot drop.
It's impossible to know what will happen in the future. As far as an MS attack goes....call your neurologist when you experience new symptoms or a worsening of existing or prior symptoms. Technically when this happens for more than 24 hours, it is considered a relapse. Don't be shy about asking your neurologist any questions you have.
Lisa
