Q: Please can someone help, have spots on mri are there other tests besides lumbar P for ms

Hi, i have a question, for anyone that might have some knowledge on the subject.  My Doctor told me i have spots on my brain.  He didnt tell me what color they are.  I saw on the computer in his office, the brain mri that was done on me he was pointing out the spots he didnt mention anything about the color, but they were white looking to me.  What color are ms lesions? And can other disorders that cause marks or spots on the brain be the same color as MS spots?  Also i have passed the vep test.  Does that mean that they could possibly not be MS spots?  I have not had a lumbar puncture done yet.  I'm trying to exhaust every other possible testing  first, before i go ahead with the lumbar puncture.  I feel i have enough problems  lol and would like to wait.  Also are there any other tests other than the VEP and the Lumbar Puncture that can help determine what these spots are on my brain.?  Someone told me that a P E T  Scan might help  this person is a nurse.   Please someone  reply.   Please  im scared and  im alone ,  and i dont feel well.  I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 12 yrs ago.  I'ts been hard and a very long road but i was doing ok till my back went out on me beginning of this yr and i realy could not move much at all.  I was very sedantary life style for about a yr.   Due to  working from home on the computer,  my back 28 kidney stones, and needless to say depression.   Please if anyone can help answer these questions i have posted .,  please  please reply, i feel like im losing this 12 yr battle of what i thought was fibro. im very confused .  Thank You  Lisa

Hi Lisa,

This must be very frightening. The diagnostic process alone is so complicated, and considering the symptoms you've been experiencing and the Fibromyalgia diagnosis you have a lot on your plate. The marks on your brain are leisons, scar tissue, and they will show up as white.

There are a number of tests to try to narrow down your diagnosis. Check out the list here, maybe your doctor will be open to trying one of these to narrow the focus. There are a number of places that you can join message boards - patientslikeme.com, and there is a growing community of people with MS on Facebook. Feel free to find me there. I hope things get better for you quickly.

YES THERE ARE OTHER TESTS THAT YOUR NEUROLOGIST CAN DO . ALSO VERY IMPORTANT GET THE IGG BLOOD TEST TO SEE IF YOU HAVE GLUTTEN INTOLERENCE , BECAUSE IT CAUSES WHITE SPOTS ON THE BRAIN JUST LIKE MS. IFYOU TEST POSITIVE FOR GLUTTEN INTOLERENCE IT IS SIMPLY A DIETARY CHANGE AND YOU MAY NOT HAVE MS . PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NEWLY DIAGNOISED.
