Hi CGS,   It is not uncommon that MS patients develop problems with bladder/bowel functions.  It seems that incontinence (of the various forms) is present in a number of patients.   For some of those patients, self catheterization is recommended.  But addressing the issue with the neurologist (who may refer to a urologist) is the best idea.  The cause of the hesitancy might be neurological or it might be something else.   Here's some information regarding incontinence.  And here's some information regarding catheterization.   Hope this helps, Lisa
