Hi Jamie,

Welcome to MS Central.  You have found a place with some genuinely nice and supportive folks.  So sorry to hear of your diagnosis but glad that you finally have an answer after 10 years of trying to figure it out.

It is very tempting when newly diagnosed to want to read as much as possible.  Take it slow and try not to get overwhelmed.  Just as Shelly said, this disease is unique to each individual.  We have lots of things in common but never in exactly the same combination (at least that I've come across).

Hope you are doing well and please feel free to tell your story in a sharepost, to ask questions, or to read the vast amount of posts here.  Please know that you are NOT alone!!

Lisa thank you for writing me, I was reading too much and have just been overwhelmed so thats why I was looking for Support Groups or classes in my area, just to be with people who have MS etc.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

Jamie

I have to say you have come to the right place. When I was diagnosed over 25 years ago, I just cried. I didn't know what to do, what to think.  I happened to meet a nurse who had MS and she advised me to read "The Pursuit of Happiness", by David G. Myers.  After reading this book, I felt a bit of relief. It has been just recently that I have found this website. Even after all these years and the many things that have happened to me, I have found this site very helpful. I pray you will too. There will be many of us here that will respond to whatever frightens you and, hopefully, direct you to articles and thoughts to assist you.  Just know we are here for you and we want to help. Two of the most important things to have is hope and a positive attitude. Believe it or not, you can live a long and productive life.

Hi Ms. Jamie. Wow, not the Christmas present you had hoped for, huh? I have had the diagnosis for 2 1/2 years now, and I just want to tell you, you are not alone! It is scary and there is much to read, but I would just advise you not to read too much or it will overwhelm you like it did me. MS is a very individual situation, and no two people are alike. If you do have a certain symptom that makes life hard for you, then discuss possible meds/options that could make it better. I am sorry for your news and encourage you to just look at the blessings in your life this Christmas season. Positive attitude is huge with fighting this disease. Merry Christmas and welcome to the site. I haven't been here for awhile, but I have some posts that might help.
