Yeah abnormal reflexes whether they be non-existent or exaggerated can be a symptom of Multiple Sclerosis. 

If you go to your doctor or neurologist the test they do with the little hammer can tell a lot. 

Here are some of the tests they may do and what they look for.

I know whenever I have go see my doctor, she usually notes whether there is a difference in the reflexes in one side of my body over the other.  I have had times when my  right leg will shoot up due to her tapping.  This could be due to spasticity or a well placed lesion. 

I also found a thread in a personal blog where people talk about this very symptom.
