Does anyone have experience with a loved one with MS living in a nursing facility?

I am writing an article about caring for MS patients in long term care facilities for Provider, the official magazine of the American Health Care Association, which represents owners and administrators of nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and other senior care settings. I would love to talk to some family members who have had experience with this. I believe that you could offer some valuable insights for my readers about what they need to do to ensure that MS patients in long term care receive the best possible care and have the best possible quality of life.

Joanne,

The very first person you need to contact is Patrick Leer at CaregivinglyYours.com.  Here is a blogpost he wrote on the 5th anniversary of his wife being in an extended care facility.  Patrick is the expert when it comes to having a spouse living with MS in longterm care.

Then you should contact my friend and fellow blogger Diane who has just recently moved into an assisted living facility.  She is still in the process of getting used to the change in living situation and will probably have much to say about it.

If you need me to send either person an email, please just let me know.

Lisa
