Q: I'm seeing things. Does anyone else?

Lately I've had some increased muscle weakness, feel more "light headed", and stumble more.  Mostly when I "change direction", turn, or go to the side. I've had the blurry vision that seems to come and go, but, what's freaking me out a  little is, I've been "seeing things in my peripheral, not figures, but just "things" and "movements".  Clearly by the time I actually look "at" what ever I thought I saw there is nothing there.  Has anyone else experienced this weird phenomena?  I kind of hope so.

Hi Daryl!

Not to worry...you are not going crazy!  I see things too.  Smile

Here is a description of some of my visual symptoms:

*  I see flashing lights in my periphery like little circles.  I see them too when I close my eyes.

*  I see floaters including lines and black dots in my field of vision.

*   But the strangest visual thing is that I see zigzaggy mirror-ish lines which form a half circle around my face.  Other people see this too but mainly migraine sufferers.

Is this what you are seeing?  Here are some more images.

They are called auras and people with migraines and who have epilepsy get them and they usually precede the migraine or a seizure.  In my case they come before an MS episode usually for me...of shaking and convulsing.

So tell me what you are seeing.  I find it fascinating all these varied symptoms we can have.

I've been seeking a diagnosis off and on for years.  The latest thing that happened was today.  When you had a response about zigzaggy mirror-ish lines, I had to respond.  Today, while drivng home from the office, at first I thought I was suffering from some kind of glare from the sun.  But it wasn't anything I ever experienced before.  Mine too were mirror-ish lines.  Like icicles we hang on Christmas trees, but they were much thinner and in about 1/2 to 1" strips.  It was like it was raining them.  It did not keep me from being able to see, but it was so darn strange.  It went on for several minutes, then it was gone.  It it hadn't been so weird, it would have been pretty.  Glad to know I am not nuts.

Hey if you are crazy so am I. I see the same stuff. I used to see "them" alot but lately not too much. Scares the heck out of me,especially when I'm home alone. Maybe we should give these things a name then they won't be so scareySurprised lol. Theresa

Wow. Lately I have even seen what looks like shadows. The pin head lights, I get lightheaded real easy bending down etc. But my peripherals with floaters going across my eyes and ziz-zaggedy like streaks light lighting bolts are weird. I keep thinking I'm slowly going blind. What should one do about these systems. Am I a stroke victim waiting to happen. How do you test for Epilepsy or MS when you just have an annual exam. Will a doctor take me seriously?

Same for me - I just posted my first question on this site - told probably ms or other - but i've had little black specs in the top of my vision for months and the shadows for about a month - looks like a figure - I look and it's gone.

just chalking it up to another weird thing with this whatever it is

I know exactly what you mean. I see little "mice" that aren't there. They of course are not mice, but that is what the little shadow makes me think. Really freaks me out when I'm siitting here at my desk and my hubby looks over at me like I'm nuts.

Had appt. with neuro today, haven't been for over a year. He actually seemed curious about my little visions. He has scheduled and MRI and carotid doppler, and eeg. Sounds like a day full of fun to me.

I know this is an old post, but its new to me. Hope you're all doing well.

Hi there,

I do not have migrains, but I do see floaters, flashes and mirrors (they rain like Brenda described).

In addoition, there are times my eyes seem to pixelate whatever I see. Sometimes the pixels change position, then change again again, and again, and again. I say my eyes are dancing. It's not bad, almost pretty, but it interferes with my attempts to read. Sometimes it happens the same time as my double and triple vision.

I have often heard of MSers with problems like these, so it is pobably common. And msandme wants to name them -- good idea. Any suggestions? These visual anomalies are varied and just weird They do deserve a name, and it is not crazy. I have no suggestions, but I'll think about it.

Good topic.
