Q: I had a previous MRI which showed lesions constant with MS

I had a previous MRI which showed lesions constant with MS but a negative spinal tap; no diagnosis;  Since then I have had worsening symptoms, severe spinningvertigo, loss of bladder control, numbness down one leg and in some of my toes; I have also since had a cochlear implant which means an MRI would not be allowed without surgery to remove the magnet.  Any other options?

Hi Millifred,

Sorry to hear that you have had worsening symptoms, each of which certainly can be associated with MS.  MS is a clinical diagnosis, meaning that it can't be diagnosed by testing alone.  Your neurologist may suspect that you have new lesions based on your symptoms.  I don't know for sure, but I wonder if evoked potential testing might detect impaired nerve transmissions.  Definitely call your neurologist and get in the office so that you can be evaluated while these new symptoms are still occurring.

Good luck,

Lisa
