Hi Taylor!

Thanks for asking this question.  I know a lot of people are expressing an interest in this drug.  I have not personally had experience using LDN but I am very interested too, in investigating all drugs which could potentially help reduce the symptoms of MS.

There is currently research underway to investigate the effectiveness of LDN and I will direct you now to the latest updates from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

I am hoping that others who have taken LDN could share their experience here with us in a comment or share post.  It would be helpful to us who are wishing to know more about what it is like to take this drug.

My husband has had wonderful results with LDN.  He has been on it for almost 4 years now. His MRI's came back with his one large lesion no longer enhancing and no new lesion activity.  When he started LDN he had major fatigue, bladder frequency, he could not shoot a basket, he could not use a cordless screw driver to hang up my new curtains and he was going through major depression.  His fatigue had caused him to come home from work after his lunch break for two and a half months.  The day after starting LDN he came home from work at 5 PM. His fatigue was gone. Within a week his bladder frequency was gone. In approximately a month he was able to do sports again.  He is 53 years old and he is surfing, playing tennis and what ever else he would like to do.  He has a little numbness and tingling in his palms, but no other MS symptoms.  He is lucky to be a quick responder and to have so much relief from symptoms. Not everyone has that quick of a response but most people seem to have lack of progression in the disease and many have some form of symptom removal. It is certainly worth giving a try.  E-mail me if you would like a full copy of my husbands story and a list of links to help you with researching this drug. Aletha@redshift.com

I take 4.5 mg once a day at bedtime.  I've had no side effects.  I get it from Skip's Pharmacy http://www.skipspharmacy.com/.  It costs me about $65 for 90 4.5 mg tablets.  I have not had an exacerbation in about 6 years since I started it.  I also take Copaxone (the only FDA approved MS disease modifying drug that can be taken with LDN).  Checkout the LDN website at: http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.com .  Some people have had almost miraculous results, I count being exacerbation free for so long food enough.

My wife has taken LDN for the last 4+ years ands it has stopped getting any worse, unfortunatly it does not generally give much if any symtom improvement. My wife was dropping like a brick in the bigest relapse she had ever had and it stopped dead in 4 days. Best decission she has ever made.

LDN is a positive for me.  I have been taking it for 4 years now, after I took avonex, which was awful. Shelly

Aletha's answer on her husband's experience with LDN for MS are a good example of the benefits the LDN/MS users have been experiencing. I had the pleasure of meeting them in person at the 4th annual LDN conference in 2008, where we got to hear promising updates from many LDN researchers. I have had excellent results since Feb 2004, for Secondary Progressive MS. The positive results that Aletha, myself and others have seen tends to turn one into an advocate. Because the benefits are so undeniable, we want to share it with the world. I became a fund raiser for the LDN trial at UCSF, and now a co-author of a medical reference book, compiling all the research to-date. Details at http://LDNers.org
