Q: Hypopituitarism, now heart trouble?

32 y.o. female with pituitary disease (ACTH deficiency)-heart palpitations (on stairs, but also waking me up at night), alt high/low bp, extreme shortness of breath followed by wet cough (sometimes after exertion, sometimes laying in bed), heavy fatigue...EKG abnormal, echo normal except trace mitral reg...Ejection fraction 55%.  Dizziness, balance issues at night, light headed after breathing issues, daily headaches, yawning...Brain MRI shows enlarged ventricles and fluid but nothing serious.  Breathing issues scary.  No anxiety issues.  Meds: 15mg Hydrocortisone for cortisol deficiency, Armour Thyroid 60mg for hypothyroidism, and testosterone/progesterone for low hormones.  I'm a nursing student who is happily married and hopes to have a family someday soon but need to be well. Thoughts?

Hi HopefulMD,

That is a great presentation of your symptoms and testing stats.  Nobody here is a medical professional or qualified to give real medical advice.  That also means that we are able to diagnose anything.

I'm not sure that you are aware of it or not, but you have posted this question on a site dedicated to multiple sclerosis.  Do you have MS in addition to the information you have provided?  You might get a better response if you try one of the other HealthCentral websites.

I know how scary it can be when there doesn't seem to be an explanation for symptoms which impact your ability to function.  I hope that you are working closely with your own doctor and medical professional team to find the answers to your questions.  Good luck and come back and let us know what the answer is.
