Norrie,

You may want to discuss fatigue with your neurologist.  So often I get the "I must lay my head down RIGHT NOW!!!  and sleep all afternoon" symptom.  My instinct tells me that it is good to you to stay as physically active as you can comfortably.  That doesn't mean wearing yourself out, but taking regular breaks during a short walk.  It's the accumulative effect which is important.  Perhaps getting some specific help and advice from a physical therapist would be a good idea.  Ask your doctor for a prescription.

Hi norrie,

The slowing down thing really is a bummer. I was diagnosed long ago but find I still do not allow enough time for things.  My estimating ability must be on pre-MS time. As far as fatigue, Lisa hit it on the head.  Your doctor can provide medication or vitamin B12 that may help.

If it's sleepiness, you have joined those of us who have excessive daytime sleepiness or somnolence. A short daily nap may help -- maybe a couple of hours or as short as 20 minutes.  That can be inconvenience.  Sometimes I can just close my eyes for about 5 minutes and I feel refreshed.

Sometimes people use a wheelchair part time to reduce the tiredness.

II like your "running up a sand dune" description. It makes it very clear.

Good luck.
