While I can't speak specifically to your situation, I can say that I have a great deal of spasticity with my version of MS. I am not sure what TIA means. Is it related to spasticity? I'd be happy to share more about my experience if you think its relevant.
Best,
Amy
Hi LGC,
I've had MS for 21 years, and unlike most, it was diagnosed very quickly. I didn't start experiencing spasticity until recently, about 3 years ago. I started having dramatic pain in my feet. The only thing I could liken it to was labor pains. It was an unbearable tightness.. and it didn't respond to meds at all for the first six months. For some unknown reason, it magically stopped, and then became manageable. After I was weaned off of many different meds, I was put on an even dose of Baclofen (75mg through out the day) and I have relief. I do have periodic break through pain, usually because I haven't taken my next dose on time. Spasticity was explained to me as the complementary muscles, don't tighten and relax as they are supposed to. They both tighten.. and this is very painful. I'm not sure if this relates to what you are experiencing in your back, but thats what I have dealt with.
If you are interested in learning more about my MS experience, I blog about it at http://mslol.wordpress.com I cover a wide variety of experiences there- and I'm sure some of it will interest you. Let me know if you have further questions.
Best,
Amy
Here is the actual link to my blog.
I have recently felt this spasticity in my legs, especially my right side. I as of yet have not been dx with ms, I am seeing a ms neuro this week. It feels exactly like you say, tight and so excruciatingly painful, I could not even move my toes or walk on both feet. Fortunately, I do use a cane, but when this hits, it's really unbearable and cannot even get out of bed. I have tried hitting my leg, thinking that maybe it fell into a real deep sleep. . . Anyways, I am going to check out your blog as I need further info and would like to be ready with questions for the ms neuro.
Thank you,
CCP
Hi CCP,
I know how hard it is to deal with this... it affects everything, doesn't it. I hope you find out the cause soon (that in and of itself is stressful) and receive treatment that resolves the pain. Having people who understand can be helpful... because when no one gets it is worse; don'tcha think?
Good luck and keep me posted~
Best,
Amy

Thanks for answering , a TIA is basically a mini stroke-it is were the vessel in the brain shut down so blood can't flow to that part of the brain.
Yes I would be interested in your case due to fact I am still in limbo land and I have never so confused about anything in my life.
