Where do you begin?
My daughter is a 27 yr old mom of two great kids. Her and her family barely have insurance to cover the kids. She is not covered. She has been diagnosed and having the onset of MS. Where on earth do you begin to look for help on getting in to see a professional? She needs to get in to a neurologist but who has money for that?
What do you do?
thanks for any help yo can provide.
Danah
I would start with your local chapter from the MS Society. I have not personally used them as a source but I have heard that they can help you and also point you in the right direction. Here is the website http://www.nationalmssociety.org/index.aspx . There are also many other source out there. I would suggest going to google and putting in "multiple sclerosis and your state" that should pull up some information for you too. I have just seen the newer website moveoverms and that looks like it has some really good information but I am not sure about sources for help, http://www.moveoverms.org/user/register?entry=PPS1®=discover . Good luck and god bless your daughter and family! Take care.

Hi Danah
I had just had my son and was 23 when I got Dx 16 yrs ago. I had no insurance and couldnt afford anything either- It took me 7 years to get medicaid- and SSI. I was turned down for these things repeatily even while applying in person in a wheelchair!
I finally went to a lawyers office, he got so angry and called a few people right then and there and BAMM i had the medicaid and SSI - he didnt charge me thankGod!
There are MS clinics in most states- there was one in CT where I used to live and Now Im going to be going to one in Jacksonville,Florida.
hang in there- Keep trying-apply for medicaid and Social Security- if needed get a lawyers help- There are pro bono lawyers also
Good Luck
Maria :)
