Q: my mri and blood test were negative

My mri and blood test were negativefor Lupus and Lyme disease but now my Dr. ordered an EMG which I heard sucks! Is it even possible to still have MS?

Yes it is still possible.

A blood test doesn't do anything for MS other than rule out things that could mimic ms. As far as the MRI. I had a negative MRI but a possible spinal tap and an abnormal visual field test. Also had confirmation of optic neuritis and dehmylation in the optic nerves. I think it all depends on the neuro you go to. I have a neuro who specializes in MS and has been around for a long time. He believes that if you are symptomatic then you have lesions they are just not visible to mri but most likely will be visible over time, therefore with all the other testing that points to ms a diagnosis can be made.

Curious to see what your doc says though. Keep us posted!

Thank you so much for the information. I've become obsessed with learning all I can about MS so I can go back to my neuro and know what he's talking about! I will certainly keep you posted.
