Q: Spasticity issues

Hi, this may be another symptom (I don't know). The back of my right leg (sometimes both) feels like I can't straighten it. The muscles hurt when I stand, walk and extend my leg. It feels somewhat better when I bend my leg and hip. This has been going on for a few weeks now (off and on - mostly on). At times, my leg(s) actually spaz out so bad that the leg(s) bend on their own. Is this what MS symptoms call Spasticity? If so, what can I do about it. I also have RLS, but the spasticity is different than the feeling of RLS. I am still in limbo.  Thanks for your comments.  Linda

Hi

I have what I think is a spasticity issue.  Here are some links I've found that might help:

http://www.msaustralia.org.au/documents/MS-Practice/spasticity.pdf

http://www.nationalmssociety.org/about-multiple-sclerosis/symptoms/spasticity/index.aspx

Stretching might help.  Physical therapy could be helpful.  Heating pad.

Sorry you are in pain.  Try to get your doctor to give you a muscle relaxer.

Feel better,

Kim

Hey Linda,

I think you may be suffering from a new symptom with your ms.  I started experiencing it a lot recently (past 2 months) too.  I'm sorry.  I know it sucks.  Tell your doctor so he/she can give you a muscle relaxor so it won't hurt so much.  Also, here are some links:

http://www.nationalmssociety.org/about-multiple-sclerosis/symptoms/spasticity/index.aspx

Hope this helps some.  Feel better.  Massage helps.

Sincerely,

Kim
