Is it worth it?

Is it worth going on the meds to help alleviate MS symptoms and possibly put a hold on the disease with all the side effects I have been reading about?  My husband was on interfuron for an illness for 1 years and he was sick the entire year.  And, I have a friend that has MS and she is on Avonex.  She stays sick everyday.  Of course, she has a 9-year old and has to keep up with her, but still she feels bad each day.  Are the meds worth the side affects?  It may be time for me to decide which meds to take in a few weeks.  I'm a bit confused.  Can anyone help me decipher this dilemma?  Thank you, Linda

I believe it's worth a try...no one reats exactly the same to meds...it'a possible that Avonex will be kinder to you AND slow the MS roll through yur life.  I

ve been taking it for 10 years with little to no problems.  A friend of mine cannot tolerate it....whose to say how it will treat you..try it...it might be good for you

Linda, I have to agree also MS is a strange monster.  It never treats everyone the same.  I take Beta shots every other day.  They told me to take meds everytime I take the shot because I would probably run a fever.  I never do and have never run a fever.  Have had MS all my life I am told, it did not show up until I was 44 I have had no new leisons since being on Beta, the only problems are my knees and my sight, but that is the nature of the beast.  I can still see I try and stay active, I read, still do my crafts, and do my best to keep positive attitude, mind over matter!  Yes we all have bad days, but I am not going to give in, I got too much to do, and so do YOU!  OK I got stuff to do, well you take care, I hope I have helped!  sherry/smomdukesKiss

Mom, you are always an inspiration.  I also do crafts.  I have a small fledgling business and I am trying desperately to get my stock of crafts up for upcoming shows.  It's hard when my hand feels strange or when I just feel yuckie.  Anyway, my head is up and I just received my blood results:  Vitamin D up to 26 from 13.1, Colesterol down to 195 and my triglicerites down slightly.  YEA!  Now for my MRI on Monday.  Once again, thanks for the comments and inspiration.  Linda

Linda, crafts are my outlet, I am always colleting junk to see what I can make out of it.  Have fun enjly life regardless of MS, I just opened up something I bought from Goodwill, I am goping to take the packaging and see what I can make out of the packaging!  Have fun!  sherry/smomdukesKiss
