Q: Is there a motorcycle "Ride For The Cure" for M/S?

My Sister is an avid motorcycle rider.  She asked me to find out if there is a

motorcycle "Ride For The Cure" for M/S.  I know there is a "Ride For The Cure" for breat cancer; however, I wasn't able to find out if there is one for M/S.  I would like to get as much information as I can for my Sister so she can relate the information to all of her fellow motorcycle riders.  Is there a WEB page that I could write to get this info?

Thanking you in advance,

Marlene

Hi Marlene,

This was a very interesting question.  I googled "motorcycle multiple sclerosis" and found such a ride!!!

The 2nd district IAFF Motorcycle Group is hosting the 1st Annual Charity Ride for Multiple Sclerosis this summer, June 6-7, 2009.  Here is a pdf with details.

In Westchester County, NY, the "Westchester Beemers" has teamed up with the Walk MS to create the Ride MS.  Here is their webpage.

Today through Sunday, such a ride is occuring in Oklahoma City (see here.)  And last Saturday a ride took place in Lakeland, Florida (see here.)

So perhaps you, or your sister, should conduct a google search like I did but add your state or location to narrow down the results.  Also, if your sister is a member of a cycle club, they may have more information available.

Good luck and have fun!

Thank you for your information, I used to belong to a MC here in Las Vegas, Nevada. But due to my MS disabilities I can no longer ride. But with information I will search for one close. I do hope to ride once again.

I found your thread while looking for some evidance that supports the case that riding a motorcycle willl cause the advancement of MS conditions.

I found these when doing a search to try and locate the phone number to the Mail Order Pharm. Finding this number was no easy task. I did however find it by calling the Wilmington Pharmacy manager's number from Outlook, they transferred me to the mail order line.

Die you don't mind me asking but did you have to stop riding due to the riding causing an issue or because the symtptoms made it to much of a risk to continue riding? My e-mail is jcsmith1014@comcast.net. I would appreciate your take on this. I've been riding for years and was just diagnost with MS. I am told I've had it for many years but it's symptoms were so mild that I blew them off as othern things. My Neuro is telling me should not ever ride a motorcycle becuase the riding will cause more damage and avance the symptoms.
