Hi lee-ner,

Yes, you can still have wine "once in a while."  The key is moderation.

And here's more good news if your preferred wine is red.  There is a theory that a glass of red wine may even be beneficial! Too bad my preferred wine is white.  If it really does make a difference, I would be willing to switch, or at least give it a try.

One glass-every once in a while--I say as much and as often as provides you joy and happiness. {I am in no way advocating drunkenness or self medicating.} This illness takes away so many things that I am a firm believer in finding and celebrating the pleasures in this life--whether it is an indulgent bubble bath, or a lovely glass of Merlot.

The obvious restrictions apply--too much bacon pads your hips, too much hot water makes your skin pruny, and too much wine might make you sing embarrasing show tunes at your cousins wedding.

Indulge - with the appropriate restraints.  Also, note that many MS meds have alcohol warnings. I discuss side affects with my docs when they prescribe. One of my meds has a warning to avoid sun--short of living in a cave, how does one do this. I checked with my doc and the pharmacist--who both said use sun screen, wear a hat, protect yourself from sunburn. Why?, because of the med? No, just to avoid the risk of skin cancer, they both said.

Seek happiness, especially when MS takes a heavy toll!
