Hi Jennifer,

Yes, multiple sclerosis does affect the eyes at times in a variety of ways.  Pain is often associated with optic neuritis as are changes in vision.

When we start to experience problems with the eyes, and we have MS, it's best not to wait on it.  Call your neurologist and explain what is going on.  If it is optic neuritis (an inflammation of the optic nerve) which is causing your problems, then very likely a round of steroids is in order.  But only your doctor can make that call.

Don't hesitate.  If it is optic neuritis, you want to protect your vision.

You need to contact your doctor Jennylynn first and foremost. That is a syptom that I dealt with before in my personal history with M.S.

It was scary for me as well because I had pretty much the same experience with my eyes. It is called Optic Neuritis and when you do contact your Neurologist they will have some answers for you as to what it actually is and if it is related to your MS. I had Relapsing Remitting at that time. I have that now but had to go through that time of questioning whether I was getting worse. It got better and I was so grateful for. I can see now and am super relieved.

Well I was not it was another episode. I can only speak for myself when talking about MS because I am not a doctor. So I can  only say that you should go to your neurologist. That will help.

I hope that you can find out your answers....

Pam
