These are the choices I see for you:
1. Your husband cannot leave his currecnt job for one that offers no insurance. Besides the price, there are certain safeguards when the policy is fromt he employer that you do not have with a private insurer.
2. Become insured at your job or you can find a better job--meaning a big employer that offers health insurance (working for the state, ie, either at a university or for a big hospital). those are the best insurance because it is by a big employer, so your costs are not so visible like it would be now with your current employer who only has 6 people.
If your main concern are the meds, copaxone does have a great program that will help you pay either the copay for the copaxone or the entire cost (pick a policy that does not offer meds, maybe less expensive). I don't know the other meds you take, but I use alot of the $4 programs out there for generics at Walmart and Target (like for neurontin and some anti-depressant drugs). There are other companies that help you with meds wo you can get them at a reduced rate, and their threshhold income is not like Medicaid.
I guess you are like me, you live in a state that does not have a pool for the uninsured. Many states do offer it, or they help you pay part of your insurance premium. Not qualifying for Medicaid does not mean you don't qualify for other programs.
Remember disabioity takes 2 years to kick in ( the Medicare part).
Hope this helps. I have handled all the insurance and medical problems of my parents for the last 12 years--through HMOS and etc. They became sick at 50, so too young for medicare. I am an only child and live with them with no help form Medicare. I now have MS, after my 4year old was born. I have kept my insurance from my previous job of 10 years ago. I pay alot but I have no choice, like you said we are uninsurable. My husband is self-employed and we currently trying to get him a position with a "big employer".
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
