Q: I take Sativex and it's not covered by insurance and why does it cost so much?

Sativex comes in a puffer and helps my pain bearable and it works fast but I can't fill my perscription more than once a month  it cost $155 and only last about 10 days.  Why does everything cost so much?

According to what I've read, Sativex is still in Phase III trials in the US. It is approved for use in several other countries including Canada, Spain, and the UK, but in most of those countries it is not "officially" approved as a prescription medicine. That may be why it is so expensive (if you can find it at all).

For those who don't know, the active ingredients in Sativex are THC and CBD - the same as found in marijuana. This medication appears to help a lot of MS and cancer sufferers with their pain. Here's a link to a Wikipedia article on it. Sativex
