Q: To blog or not to blog about my MS adventures

Hello, today I celebrating my 2 year anniversary of being diagnosed with MS.  Overall, my health has been good and I thank God every day for not having a relapse.  A mission statement I made the day I found out about MS was that I was going to stay active as long as I was able to do so.  Since we don't know the progress that this disease can take I want to do what I can while I still can, no regrets.  So this year I have signed up for a 5K, a Triathlon, a Duathlon, and the MS Mud Run which is a 10K obstacle course through Mud. Now I know I am crazy or this sounds crazy but I want to do this not only for myself and my family but for all of the people that have MS. I thought about starting a blog (I have no idea how to do this) so people could follow my experiences through these adventures and the training that I am going to be starting on Tuesday for 12 weeks for my triathlon.  Do you think this would be a good thing to do and well received by the MS community or do you think it would be negative for people with MS? I want to be inspiring to people who may not be able to be active any longer but worry that people might be angry instead of supportive. What are you thoughts?

Hi Jazzy24,

I am so impressed and in awe of what you are aiming to do!  Your inner strength and courage is palpable and comes through your question.  I don't know of anyone with MS who would not feel the same as I do.  I encourage you to start a blog about what you are doing, or to find a place where you can raise money for sponsorship.  Is this through National MS Society?  When I have done the MSWalk they had a place on their website where people can visit and submit their donation.  It kept track of all of the donations in one central place.  Perhaps you can do something like that.

I wish you good luck in your endeavors and thank you.  It is empowering to have someone like you representing your MS peers.

Keep us posted!

Best,

Cathy
