I have primary progressive MS and no energy. I'm on Provigil. Will supplementing with B-12 help?

Hi Drena,

I have RRMS, so no direct experience with PPMS.  But I have experienced bouts of severe fatigue.  I take Provigil but discovered that my thyroid level was off.   If you haven't already, maybe ask your primary doctor to conduct a full battery of bloodwork.  As far as B-12, I understand that a B-complex supplement is helpful for energy levels.

Come back, and let us know how you're doing.

Lisa

I'm not a healthcare practitioner but have read lots and I have RRMS.  Lethargy has been a real problem for me.  I take Source Naturals Enada (a patented bioavailable form of B3 or NADH.)  Be sure the description indicates it is the patented form as this form is especially helpful energy wise.  Also sold as EnadAlert.  Kind of confusing in a way.  Source Naturals NADH is also available as the normal form of B3, not nearly as helpful.  As for B12, I have read elsewhere if you have a lot of dental amalgams (mercury) in your mouth you should be careful with the amounts of B12 you take.  Has something to do with exaccerbating the presence of mercury in your body. In other words, minimum dose (Half a tablet if need be).   Might want to look into having your amalgams removed by a qualified dentist who knows the dangers of amalgam and how to remove without further ingesting this poison.    I think B12 makes the difference for me so I definitely recommend.

Hello Drena

Was just looking back at some of the older questions and was intrigued by yours.  I am wondering how you have been doing these past months and if the B-12 vitamins are helping at all.  I am into natural ways of increasing my health so I may just try supplementing with the B-12 but wanted to hear from others if it truly helps.

I hope you are feeling well and I also want to wish you a very Happy Holiday.
