how many years should  you be on avonex ? I HAVE BEEN using avonex since  july, 1998.

please reply. I HAVE BEEN GETTING FLU SYMPTOMS FOR  A WHOLE WEEK AT A TIME I HAVE BEEN OFF AVONEX FOR A MONTH NOW AND THERE HAS BEEN NO CHANGES SINCE I HAVE BEEN TAKING AVONEX.I DO NOT HAVE ANY FLU SYMPTOMS ANYMORE SINCE OFF OF THE AVONEX. I HAD BLADDER PROBLEMS WHILE ON AVONEX AND DO NOT HAVE THEM SINCE OFF THE  AVONEX. HOW OFTEN SHOULD HIS MS BE CHECKING HIM?

When Avonex was introduced all the trials and studies were two years of therapy.Now the recommendation is you have to take Avonex life long.The documented efficacy to prevent relapses is 40-60%.Because you did not have a relapse after starting Avonex, I think you should continue taking it.The flu like reaction can be minimised if you take 650 mg of Paracetamol thrice a day on the day of the injection.I don't think your bladder symmptoms are related to Avonex.

THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL. I HAVE A QUESTION? MY LEGS ARE VERY WEAK, HEAVY AND TIRED FEELING. I LOSE MY BALANCE MORE THAN

I DID WHEN WAS ON THE AVONEX.  I HAVE ALSO BEEN VERY CONSTIPATED ,WHAT CAN I TAKE?   PLEASE REPLY ASAP!!!

Constipation is really hard problem to solve.I tried more water,fruits,fiber,laxatives,enema and finally digital evacuation of feces.For the aeakness of legs try exercise with a small weight attached to your leg and use a cane if you don't feel ashamed.

THIS IS GEORGE THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE SUGGESTIONS THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL. I WILL USE THE THEM AND I AM A LITTLE A HESITANT ABOUT THE CANE BUT I HAVE KNOWN USING A CANE FOR A WHILE BUT HAVE BEEN ASHAMED TO USE IT, BUT I WILL HAVE TO JUST GIVE IN. I WILL BE TOUCH AND I APPRECIATE EVEVRYTHING & ALL YOUR WONDERFUL HELP. THANKS ALOTSmile!!!!!
