Q: Natural Solutions?

What Natural Solutions Have you Found to Recover Movement and Mobility?  I have discovered massage of the area that is experiencing nerve malfunction....and I am taking Vitamen D and some other suppliments.  I am also doing pool therapy.  I have seen advances in recovery and am wondering if anyone else has found an additional natural means to recover movement and feeling in their affected limbs.

No Lori, my doctor has me taking Vitiamin D once a week. (some powerful pills) I want to start taking B12 or B6 for enegry I am not sue which one yet.  Now that I am not working I want to start pool therapy again.  I did it once before and it does help.  I use to take Provigil for enegry I no longer take it.  My dentist was telling me about some kind of chamber, I have to look into it.  Maybe you know what I am talking about, he said that it might help my knees.  I have no Arthur, so it iw the MS.  I know long take the Beta shots, because it is just steriods.  Since I have stopped the steriods, my walking is improving, ( imagine thatWink)  If you know of any Natural Solutions please tell all.  I for one am listening!   sherry/smomdukesKiss

Sherry,

I am taking naturally:  flax seed oil...vitamen D and taking a multivitamen...the swim therapy....I am eating more fish and veggies and I am seeing myself healed (visualization is an important part of healing)  I used to say everything "got on my nerves"  I stopped saying that!  Now I am praying that my nerves completely heal and I am praying for my body to recover completely.  I am seeing huge advances!  I couldnt walk without assistance a few weeks ago...now just a bit more numbness in the toes and calf must leave.  My body was numb and I had vision darkness in one eye.  I still feel my energy returning and am spending alot of time resting and letting my body recover.

As I recover a major focus for me is inner healing (spiritual & emotional)  I am focusing on peace and rest.  I have found some interesting info on autoimmune desease (My grandmom had colitis attacks, my Mom had sever authritis in her thirties and was bedridden for a time, my sister has limited MS, my son at four experienced an autoimmune desease that gave him athritis & now this episode that I just experienced...recovering walking etc)  I am discovering that dealing with deep inner rejection of myself and stress from perfectionism is helping me to find inner healer and as a result outer healing.  This belief system of striving to be perfect was handed down through the generations.  I am allowing myself to discard this wrong thinking and accept healthy thoughts about my spirituality.  I am listening to two songs over and over again and letting myself heal inwardly.  They are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3VT2bMpoYY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEApLPFOSgo&feature=related

This is meditation and healing for me...I dont what type of meditation you are doing to rest and relax and heal...this is working for me.  I know that with sickness can come condemnation of how I must have done something bad to cause this...I am getting healed from this and allowing myself to believe that God loves me and that he has a future of healing and health for me.  The scripture says that all things are possible to him who believes...and I had to work on my ability to believe that I am loved by my creator and I am working on loving myself.  Getting my thinking right will help me to raise emotionally and spiritually healthy children (I have four)

I hope this helps you as you seek a natural way to heal as well...let me know what you find to be healing spiritually as well if you dont mind...we are physical people yet we are equally spiritual.  Thanks, Lori

Thank you so much Lori.  You just reaffirmed what I already know.  Sometimes it takes someone else to open up our eyes to what is right in front of us.  I need to rest more, and I don't, I feel like if I stop something will go lacking.  My husband often tells me that I cannot save the world, it would be nice, he says, "honey it just aint possible".  He is right.  I have a book of healing scriptures which I need to re-read there are scriptures in there for every illness known to man.  My brother sent it to me from Hawaii about 10 years ago, but I love it.  I am going to start on my vitamins and work it that way.  Again Thank you Lori for re-opening my eyes.  I have taken your post, printed it out and posted it on the board in my fake-study, junk craft room.

sherry/smomdukesKissps how much Flax seed oil do you take a day?

Sherry,

You encouraged me so much!  Thank you!  At this piont I am taking Flax Seed/Omega3 capsules (One or two a day)  I am going to start putting straight Flax Seed oil in my grape juice again...a tablespoon a day

I also read that grape seed extract is important as well....we have to increase our antioxidants.  So, today I am going to get grape seed extract into my system along with the straight flax seed oil with the grape juice.  (I noticed that Grape Juice gives me a lot of energy...people always thought I was exagerating but now I know its the grape seed extract)

My son had ADHD behavior issues and grape seed extract and Flax seed oil give him a great balance to the chemistry of his body...people are amazed at the difference in his behavior and calmness.

I like your husbands answer to saving the world... "honey it just aint possible".  Thats so true.  I cried when I felt like I needed to take thirty days off of teaching kindergarten to rest....but thats because it came against a mindset that I had of striving.  Now I am striving to be rested not only externally but internally...there is a scripture that says...strive to enter into my rest.  There is a rest in God that I am desiring to come into a fullness and maturity in.  ...my striving didnt get me anywhere good Smile

Wow..this is so cool that you mentioned a healing book....  I am writing a book on healing prayers and daily confessions! Can you send me the name of your prayer book?  I would love to check it out.

(There is scientific evidence that speaking to your body causes it to heal!...so I am speaking based on the healing that is provided for me through Jesus)

Here are some of my daily confessions:

My brain is blessed.  My brain is healthy and is protected from any and all attacks of disease and sickness.  The white inner section of my brain is restored and whole/protected and I am immune from all attacks both physical and spiritual/there is a hedge of protection around the functioning of my brain.  My brain functions at its fullest capicity.

My spinal cord is blessed and is made whole/any and all damage is restored and made whole.  Messages are easily and properly transmitted through my nerves from my spine and to my muscles.

My nerves function properly in cooperation with my brain, spinal column and my muscles.  My nerves are whole and produce proper communication between my brain, spinal cord and muscles.

I run and do not grow weary, I walk and do not grow faint.

There is no condemnation in Me!!!!!   God is revealing His glory in me! (John 9:2)

Thanks!  Lori

Hi Lori, the name of the book is "Scripture Keys for Kingdom Living" , by June Newman Davis, Missionary Evangelist.  It is  a wonderful book, I have recommeded it to many and everyone loves it!  It is full of healing scriptures.  When you get the book, look on page 85, it even has scriptures for us.

Sheri, was it hyperbarric chamber therapy that your dentist suggested?

Reply
1/14/10 6:01pm

I thinks that is it.  Have you tried it before, the word is that a lot of pro-football payers are using it.  Let me know what you have heard

I have heard that it is very effective. It delivers oxygen to the body's tissues under pressure. It is supposed to be very healing. It is a good way to attain a reduction in inflammation so it would naturally be effective for someone diagnosed with MS since inflammation is of prime concern with this disease. I have never tired it myself. It is not available in my area. I had looked into it and could not find one (hyperbarric chamber) in my area. I would try it I could, for sure. If pro-athletes are using it to improve their game it is a very good sign that there is a real positive aspect to it.

Hi Lori! I am taking high doses of vitamin D daily and have my blood levels monitored by my doctor. I also take 10,000 mg of omega 3 fatty acids daily. I follow the Best Bet Diet for MS which is hard to follow when you love food but if you can stick to it it will help your body to heal and regenerate; I promiss! The effects are well worth the foods you have to extricate from your diet (and this is coming from a food-lover I assure you!) I haven't tried massage therapy but have used it in the past (pre-MS) for muscle spasms and it is very effective. I do get adjusted by a chiropractor twice a week to maximize conduction from my brain down my spine to my extremities and I highly recommend this therapy. I do yoaga for seniors currently (even though I am 37) and have seen great improvement in my flexibility, muscle strength and coordination. I have been blessed a few times when people have looked surprised and said that they would not have imagined I had been diagnosed with MS after having informed them. I take this as a good sign and it is reassuring on the more difficult days.

I took 50,000 IU of vitamin D for one week which is called Stoss therapy. It gets your blood levels up quickly. Now I take 10,000 IU of vitamin D daily. My blood levels are nowhere near too high. The only reason to not take high amounts of vitamin D daily is if you have renal problems or hypercalcemia which is high blood calcium. Lori and anyone else interested; here is a link to the Best Bet Diet. There is also a supplement list available which I follow as well.

Thank you so much...you have the info that I was searching for...its so great to hear that it is working so well for you.  Thanks!  From me and for everyone else that you just helped.  More questions...when you took the Stoss Therapy how did you break that down daily?  How much did you take daily for a week?  What doctor helped you with this type of natural assistance?

Blessings, Lori

Sorry about that; I didn't post that clearly. For 7 days I took 50,000 IU of vitamin D daily. Now, daily, I take 10,000 IU of vitamin D. I shpould mention that between the months of October and April, I get lettle to no sun exposure as I live in an area where I am completely covered and in layers during the winter months because it is cold! So, if you are blessed to live in an area where you can get some sun exposure daily and your body isn't completely covered by clothing that you could probably take in less vitamin D orally per day. It is always advisable to get your blood levels checked by a doctor.

Lori, when I did the Stoss therapy, I took one daily dose of 50,000 units all at once in one dose. I did not have the 5,000 IU tablests. I had the 1,000 IU tablets, lol. I took 50 tablets all at once in a row; it was comical to watch! Wink They were small tablets and so I took 10 at a time. I also want to mention that it is necessary to take calcium and magnesium when taking vitamin D either in a 2:1 or 1:1 ratio. I take the 1:1 ratio because I tend toward constipation. Calcium is contipating and magnesium is loosening to the stools. I take the 1:1 ratio to help with stoll softening. Sorry if too much information but I want to inform...

It is not likely that you will find an allopathic doctor (Western medicine trained) who will know a lot about natural therapies. Most doctors want to help but allopathic doctors just aren't trained in natural therapies. They are trained in pharmacology. They will prescribe medications as that is what they know. My doctor is a very good man and very good doctor and his main desire is to help his patients. I went to him with my research and asked him if he would watch my blood levels if I were to take large amounts of vitamin D. He had no problem in letting me try the kind of natural treatment I desired. Some allopathic doctors may not be so open just to warn you. If you are really interested in a more natural approach to treatment, I would suggest seeking out a naturopatic doctor. Natural treatment is all they do so you will have an easy time in getting what you are looking for.

Here is a link for the Scripture Keys for Kingdom Living Book directly available for reading on line:

http://wherepeacefulwaters.com/scriptures/scripture_keys.htm

And here is the page that gives scriptures for MS:

Palsy, Strokes, Muscular Dystrophy and Sclerosis

1 Samuel 2:4
The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

Psalm 56:12-13
Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.  For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling,
that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

Psalm 116:8-10
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.  I believed, therefore have I spoken:
I was greatly afflicted:

Psalm 138:7
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

Psalm 145:14
The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

Proverbs 3:23

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

Thanks again!

Hello Lori

I really really enjoyed your exchange here.  I am also persuing "natural" methods of recovery.  I absolutely understand and encourage the spiritual aspects of our journey to better health..I ordered the book Sherry rercommended.  I would like to know more about the hyperbarac chamber...my suggestion would be to drink alkaline water everyday.  If you want to know more look up my website for information.... www.water4healthonline.com   It's amazing that something as simple and natural as WATER can be a big help.

Good luck...Be well

Hi Helen,

Thanks for writing.  The info you shared is very beneficial.  I have a friend that has offered to supply me with gallons of alkaline water each week as she has this system...I will try it..thanks!  I know there are many benefits and I just thought about switching to that water a few days ago....so, now I will.

I have since discovered the amazing benefits of magnesium.  I had improved greatly since this all began and had achieved full use of my legs but had still been battling fatigue and numbness in my upper thigh area as well as one foot/calf and arm as well as some misbalance.

I took magnesium but didn't get the results desired.  I began soaking in epsom salt and the next morning numbness from my thighs was gone.  I have been using the epsom salt baths for 1/2 up to two times a day for one week.  The results are like night and day...a week later...my balance is restored, numbness gone from my foot and calf, thigh area and my arm...my hand is improving daily and feeling is restored to my skin!  Discomfort removed!...oh yeah, and the dark spot over my left eye vanished. I also used a spray directly on my foot, hand and arm.  Amazing! Magnesium benefits:

  • Improved nerve function by electrolyte regulation. Also, calcium is the main conductor for electrical current in the body, and magnesium is necessary to maintain proper calcium levels in the blood.
  • Relieved stress. Excess adrenaline and stress are believed to drain magnesium, a natural stress reliever, from the body. Magnesium is necessary for the body to bind adequate amounts of serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of well being and relaxation.
  • Reduced inflammation to relieve pain and muscle cramps.
  • Improved oxygen use.
  • Improved absorption of nutrients.
"Epsom salt is rich in both magnesium and sulfate. While both magnesium and sulfate can be poorly absorbed through the stomach, studies show increased magnesium levels from soaking in a bath enriched with Epsom salt! Magnesium and sulfate are both easily absorbed through the skin. Sulfates play an important role in the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. They stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and are thought to help detoxify the body of medicines and environmental contaminants."
The spray is amazing for my body..I can getting the complete recovery that I desired. Here is the site for the spray I use: http://products.mercola.com/magnesium-oil/
Here is a article about magnesium:

http://minnieapolis.newsvine.com/_news/2008/12/13/2210631-magnesium-epsom-salts-and-sports-performance-part-2

Thank so very much for your help.  Blessings to you and a complete recovery from numbness and misbalance!Smile

You guys are a wealth of information.  I print these things off so I can remember them.  One question, where do I buy Alkinaine water?  Is it sold in the grocery store, or a health food store.  Can it be purchased like bottled water?

Thx,

I am not sure if there is bottled water sold by some companies...it is a system that attaches to your regular facet water.  My friend has the system and so offers me the water.  She brags it up..I am gonna try it...how are you recovering?

Hi Lori,  this old body just keeps on ticking, it aint got no choice!  I am going to the health food store sometime this week.  I am looking forward to something new.  I no longer take the Beta shots, stopped in Oct.  My walking has improved, the only MS drug I take is Bacoflen, I need it for the legs.  I now take CoQ10 and a multi-vitamin.  The Old guy at the health food store is a wealth of information.  Hope I can afford all he offers.  But otherwise, fatique is my worst enemy, but the CoQ10 seems to be helping with that.  Keep me posted on any new natural stuff, you and Helen, Hi Helen!Laughing and anybody else that I missed, it's the MS LOL LOL LOL!

Sherry, Hi!

I had the same problem with fatique bathing in epsom salt twice a day for 15 to 30 minutes has done wonders...in one week my energy level is normal again...the magnesium in the epsom salt is better absorbed through the skin.  I am glad to hear that you are doing better..

Thats cool that you have someone at a local health food store to assist you.

I will keep you informed on anything else that I learn.  God bless you and keep you, Lori

I have a question; I no longer have a bathtub, just a walk in shower, it works better.  If I soak my feet in epson salt will that work the same, or do I need to actually take the Mag.

sherry/smomdukesKiss

ps: is there a way to get it into my bathing ritual since I only have a shower?

Reply
3/ 1/10 9:41am

Sherry,

The epom salt is absorbed through the skin so soaking your feet will still get it into your system. (and if your hand(s) is affected soak that also)  Also, considering using the spray as well so that you can spray other areas of your body that may need a special dose of magnesium as well and to get the magnesium through your skin and into your body:  http://shop.mercola.com/Personal_Care-Magnesium_Oil_4oz__One_Bottle-P1261.aspx

I never drank the epsom salt...just soaked in it.  The soak acts as a detox for toxins etc as well as getting essental nutrients through your skin to your system.

Blessings!

Lori
