Caregiver now also sick with MS, are there any organizations that help with health insurance premium

Are there organizations that help with health insurance issues, such as help with paying premiums and how to chose another health insurance? I see alot of organizations for cancer, is there one for MS? Also, are there any supportive services for a caregiver? I live with both parents for the last 12 years taking care of them, one with MS and one with a rare type of cancer, Carcinoid. Now I have MS , my 4 year old has speech delay and my husband had a heart attack this year. Can any organization help me? Thanks

I am no expert by no means.  Have you contacted the Department of Social Services to see what they may have to offer.  Try getting in touch with a social worker, they can sometimes get you in touch with people who can help out.  I am not sure if this will help or not.  I work for DSS, and I know that they have helped people out like us, because I also have talked to people with MS and totally understand having MS myself.  I am sure others on this site can give you more information, I go back to work in Jan.  So I will have access to more info then.  I hope that I have helped.  Keep pushing there is help out there.  Good luck!Kiss

Since my husband was diagnosed with MS we learned a lot about our insurance we didn't know, and are sadly disappointed by. I met with our insurance agent who tells us that if you have a conclusive diagnosis of MS it puts you in the UNinsurable category, along with patients having diabetes, cardiac disease and cancer. Our only hope is that we may be picked up by a better carrier since his diagnosis so far has only been coded as optic neuritis.

If you learn anything different, please post it. The cost of diagnopsing and "treating" this disease is enormous. I honestly don't know how people get by.
