Q: Delayed reaction to Copaxone

For the past couple of weeks i've been having suffering from like a burning, stabbing sensation in my injection site, this is 24hrs after i injected.
Last night i injected in my bottom but then started with the burning and stabbing in the leg where i injected the night before. It was so bad that i was screaming out in pain.I've been on Copaxone for quite a while now with no problems but the pain is so bad that i'm considering asking my neuro if i can change.Has anyone else suffered anything like this before?

Hi budgetbabs,

Welcome to HealthCentral.  I'm sorry that you are experiencing this burning and stabbing so greatly.  I used Copaxone too but don't recall experiencing what you are describing.  I did notice, however, that if I injected too closely to a recent injection that it seemed to increase the itchiness and burning from both locations.

I would suggest that you call your doctor and try calling Shared Solutions (1-800-887-8100) who might have some suggestions for you to try.  I suppose that it is possible to develop a sensitivity to copaxone.  Definitely bring this up at your next doctor's appointment.
