I don't know that Avonex has a direct interaction with alcohol, but I do believe that those of us with MS should avoid alcohol or only drink in small moderate amounts.

As far as which beta-interferon is better, I think it depends upon the individual.  The injection schedule is different for each one.  Avonex is the only one which requires injecting into the muscle directly.  There is some difference as to which ones have a stronger amount of medicine (but I don't know which on the top of my head).

 

Then there's also other choices of medicines such as Copaxone, Tysabri, etc.

Personally I find that if I have a glass or two of wine 12 hours after my injection, I fair MUCH better that first night (I inject at 9am) ... not sure why ... but it seems to help.
