Hi Kathy,
So sorry to hear that you're having this new symptom. It is called paresthesia and you can read about it here on the NIH webpage for Neurological Disorders.
The numbness can be rather annoying, but the burning can be outright painful. I wrote a little something related to this symptom in Watch Out!! Be careful - Numbness, Paresthesia, and Multiple Sclerosis.
Actually, I've not had much of the burning. Instead, I've had the numbness, tingling, sensation of water, cold, or antbites. To relieve some of these sensations, I use medication (Gabapentin) which works really well.
I hope that you get a call back from the doctor's office. Perhaps they can see you quickly, or the doctor can prescribe some medication. Either way, I hope that you feel much better very soon.

I hate to hear that your new years started so rough. I have used neurotin, but did not find it as effective as amitriptyline. I hope you get some relief. Take care!

Hi there. I have quite abit of muscle spasticity in my neck and shoulders. I sometimes experience that burning feeling that you get - however no where near the degree that you do.
You know when you put A535 or similar type of ointment on to relieve muscle tension - and you get that hot buring feeling - well that is how I describe mine on the back of my back and upper back....it just seems to come out of no where, feels very funny, and then goes away.
Strange disease this one is, very strange!
Gary
