I too have a site reaction to Copaxone ranging from a 'hive' at the injection site to itching and skin reddness and tenderness.
Two things that work for me are:
-Benadryl gel: it is available over the counter. I rub it into the area and it quickly relieves symptoms
-Benadryl pills: I do my shot at night and about 45 minutes before sleep I take a small dose of Benadryl (1/2 of dose). This has greatly releaved my symptoms (and makes me a little sleepy too)
Also, Shared Solutions is a great resource.
My neuro says that my nine years on Copaxone are directly related to the less than expected brain deterioration that is showing on my MRIs. I have secondary progressive and am doing better than expected.
Hi Tammy, hope things have settled down... Most of the time I have no reactions but a couple of months back I developed an infuriatingly itchy rash all over my stomach. It used to keep me up at night to the point I thought I would never sleep again! Aaaaggghhh!!! Finally I went to my doctor who prescribed a topical corticosteroid cream which cleared it up in a matter of days! RELIEF :) I have also heard that antihistamines, usually prescribed for allergies, helps some people with skin reactions. My advice would be to speak to your doctor, there may be something simple which can help... Cheers
