My wife has all the symptoms of MS. She has muscle spasms and cramps, pins and needles pain in legs and feet, severe weakness, loss of balance, difficulty thinking and speaking, vertigo, tightness in her chest at times, facial spasms, low vitamin d, and many more problems. Her MRI was clear and her lumbar puncture was clear. Could she still have MS, or what could be causing these problems? Been to 2 neurologists and gotten no help. She is on pain meds and muscle relaxants. It's been 4 months now. HELP

Hi Dan,

I'm sorry to hear that your wife is having such difficulties.  It is more common that a person with MS has 'some' MS symptoms but not 'all' symptoms of MS at once.  In fact, MS is sometimes called a great mimicker since the symptoms can be caused by other conditions.

Did either of the neurologists your wife consult specialize in MS?  That can be very important when seeking an accurate diagnosis.  Did your wife have an MRI done of her brain and her spinal cord, with contrast?  Also important for collecting the diagnosis evidence of MS.  (I was diagnosed with lesions in my cervical spine and not in my brain, but I still had to wait until new lesions developed and were seen on a follow-up MRI scan.)

The people who participate on this website are not medical professionals.  I do not know what else your wife might have.  Something as simple as vitamin B12 deficiency can cause some of the symptoms you mention.  Keep looking for answers and share complete information with the doctors.

I hope that you and your wife can find some answers quickly.  Not having a diagnosis can be frustrating.
