People with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) have clearly defined flare-ups (also called relapses, attacks, or exacerbations). These are episodes of acute worsening of neurological function. They are followed by partial or complete recovery periods (remissions) free of disease progression.
