Results from a study done in the Netherlands suggest that the experimental immunosuppressant drug FTY720 may help control asthma. In the animal study, researchers found that FTY720 suppresses the allergic response that triggers asthma symptoms. The experimental drug is being developed to control autoimmune disorders like multiple sclerosis and lupus, but researchers hope that the findings lead to the development of new asthma treatments.
