According to a new study, higher levels of vitamin D and exposure to sunlight appear to lower the risk of relapse in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Researchers say this finding suggests that people who have low vitamin D levels may be more likely to suffer relapses than those with higher levels. The scientists hope their study provides strong support for clinical trials that will look at vitamin D-based treatments for relapses in people with MS.
