Woman with MS conquers Mount Everest

Ten years ago, Lori Schneider was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) and told to prepare for life in a wheelchair. But this week, the 52-year-old made it to the top of Mount Everest. The Everest trek was the final chapter of Schneider's goal of climbing the highest summits on all seven continents, a task she began in 1993 when she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 1993. She continued the treks, even after she began to lose both balance and sensation in her body in 1999. Standing at 29,035 feet on the Everest summit, Schneider unfurled a banner for World MS Day, then called her father, saying: "I'm here Dad, I made it."  Read full story >
