Smoking may speed multiple sclerosis

New research published in the Archives of Neurology has found that multiple sclerosis (MS) patients who smoke experience a faster progression of the disease. In the study, scientists found that smokers with MS were more likely to have the progressive form of the disease, rather than the relapsing-remitting form. Researchers found most of the adverse symptoms in people who currently smoked, which suggests that stopping smoking could also improve patients' chances of slowing the progression of the disease.
