Obese teens more prone to MS: study

A large, 40-year study suggests that girls who are obese as teenagers may be more likely to develop multiple sclerosis later in life. The study, published in the journal Neurology, found that girls who were obese at age 18 were twice as likely to develop the disease years later. Obesity in childhood and adulthood were not seen to raise risk. Experts believe that fatty tissue in adolescence may leech vitamin D from the body, and that may be linked to the future development of the disease.  Read full story >
