More Tysabri Doses Mean Higher Brain Infection Risk: FDA

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has placed a new warning label on the multiple sclerosis (MS) drug Tysabri, one that warns doctors and patients that the risk of developing a rare brain infection known as progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) increases as patients receive more infusions. But experts say this does not change the way the drug is used, since the risk-to-benefit ratio involving PML has always been a consideration when MS patients are given Tysabri.
