FDA Gives New Multiple Sclerosis Drug Priority Review Status

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted priority review status to an experimental multiple sclerosis (MS) drug called cladribine. Cladribine is an oral drug designed to treat patients with relapsing forms of MS. The FDA grants priority review status to drugs that offer "major advances in treatment, or provide treatment where no adequate therapy exists." This status means that the FDA will review the drug within a six-month period instead of the standard 10-month period.
