Obesity is a condition measured by a person’s Body Mass Index (BMI), or body fat. Having a BMI of 30 or greater is classified as obese. Obesity has been declared an epidemic in America, where more than one-third of U.S. adults are obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control. People who are obese are at a much greater risk for developing other chronic conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
