The practice of meditation is one of the healthy lifestyle approaches people can take to nurture and heal themselves. Therefore, much of my “secret” to maintaining weight loss is as much a spiritual approach as it is a physical approach. My 'secret' isn't much more than knowing and accessing my inner power.
Until the 1800s, doctors believed that emotions were what underlied disease, and advised patients to visit spas or seaside resorts to recuperate when ill. Gradually, emotions lost favor as a causes of illness, when knowledge around bacteria and toxins emerged, and new antibiotic treatments began to cure various illnesses. Today, we accept that there is a powerful mind-body connection through which emotional, mental, social, and spiritual factors directly affect our health.
Mind-body techniques that may promote health include relaxation, yoga, visual imagery, and meditation, to name a few.
