In the more recent years since I had my obesity surgery, I have become educated on healthy eating. It was extremely eye-opening, even shocking, for me to learn where my food really came from and its effects on my health and my life. I am so far removed from the relationship with food that I once had....

thank you for bringing this to light. if more Americans only were educated about their food there would be alot less disease in this country and life expectancy rates would increase. it is such a simple approach to living life better and longer. our food system really saddens me -- people in third world countries often eat healthier (i am not referring to poor people who live on rice and beans but rather the average person in these countries often eat fresh foods and avoid process foods).
Hi Newbie, I just now read your comment. Thanks for sharing and so sorry to take this long to reply. Ugh, when I think about the things that I used to eat when I was 100lbs overweight, well it just makes me cringe. I am so glad to have become enlightened about where the food that I eat comes from. It is nothing short of amazing -- and not in a good way! I am glad to see you are enlightened, too, and hope others will become as well. It is such a shame that I have family members who having learned this still do not care and would prefer to eat junk food over healthy food... shaking my head. MBL
