Hi Hoopers Judge, Thank you for inquiring as to my health after gastric bypass surgery. I did not have any complications during my surgery or in the last 8-years since having had my surgery. The risk of complication after gastric bypass surgery is low, however, I did know someone who had some serious issues from which she eventually recovered. We had the same surgeon.
And although I do not know this person directly, a friend of mine's brother died after gastric bypass surgery. He had the surgery performed by the surgeon that my surgeon trained under, who is one of the most-respected surgeons in the state.
Studies in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) show a lower risk of death from gastric bypass surgery when compared to the risk of death by obese people. You can read an article on that here: http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1655367,00.html
Be well,
