My Bariatric Life's Facelift after Massive Weight Loss
This sharepost is part of a series about total body contouring plastic surgery that My Bariatric Life underwent following massive weight loss. Read My Bariatric Life’s Total Body Lift – Part 1: Why Did I Do This?
My Bariatric Life in March 2013 and in March 2014 after undergoing facial plastic surgery with Dr. Catherine Winslow.
The year 2013 was a time of transformation for me. I had facial rejuvenation and body contouring from my eye lids to my knees! It all began with my tummy tuck on April 18th. Those results were so dramatic that I decided to follow through on my long-held dream to do a total body transformation.
Plastic surgery after weight loss is not vanity. Massive weight loss from my gastric bypass surgery in 2003 had left my face and body with sagging skin that aged me. Following my tummy tuck, I had my stage 2 body contouring plastic surgery on October 10, 2013. That took care of everything below the neck. Then on December 12th I took care of everything above the neck with facial plastic surgery.
On my birthday in March of 2013 I was a size 14 and looked every bit of the 49 years that I had turned. Following my plastic surgeries, when I turned 50 in March of 2014, I was a size 2 and looked like I was 30-something. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have found two plastic surgeons who are each at the very top of their fields (one for faces and one for bodies) and who do not charge exorbitant prices. My total investment, excluding travel costs, was $40,000. My facial plastic surgery was $15,000 and my body contouring plastic surgery was $25,000.

Looking 30-something at 50-years Old
A very funny thing happened when I attempted to renew my driver's license. I presented my passport for ID but upon looking at the photo taken several years ago, then looking at my face, then back and forth between the passport photo and my face a few more times, the woman at BMV asked, "This is you?"
I laughed and handed her my driver's license, "Yes. Look here. It is me." She looked at my DL photo and said, "This doesn't look like you." She said it in the most polite and complimentary way. She believed it was me, but was incredulous at how different I looked.
The BMV woman called her co-workers to look at my "before" photos. Comments included, "Wow" and "You've lost a lot of weight" and various remarks about how stylish I was. Needless to say it was the best experience I ever have had at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles!
My Facial Plastic Surgery
Here are the 7 procedures I had done for my facial rejuvenation:
SMAS to tear troughs
Upper eye lid lift
Filler to lips, marionette lines, and nasal folds
Just one week before my 50th birthday in March 2014 I did a photo shoot in New York City to celebrate my transformation. I was 5-months post body contouring and 3-months post face lift. It was terrific fun and I truly felt like a model! I invite you to check out all the photos from the shoot in my albums on Flickr and my photos on Google+.
I am so very glad that I followed through with my dream to have plastic surgery after weight loss. Never did I imagine that I would look like this at age 50. Being ashamed of one's own face and body is a terrible way to go through life. I love my face and my body now. And that is a wonderful way to go through life!
